 FHS PTO Mission Statement

The mission of the PTO
is to support the goals developed by FHS while focusing on the key areas of communication and student recognition.

The goals of the PTO are:

1. To increase parental awareness of student needs and activities;

2. To recognize and acknowledge individual student's academic achievement(s);

3. To provide information, which will enable parents to be more effective;

4. To honor and serve the teachers of Franklin High School.

 PTO Meeting Information

The FHS PTO meets at lunch time (12:00 - 1:00) on the first Wednesdays in Sept., Nov., Feb. and May.  Check in at the Main Office for meeting room location.

These 4 dates are important for planning activities for the year.  Additional work/project days are scheduled as needed and announced through email and Facebook.

Sharing your email address with us will allow us to:

1. inform you of PTO meeting agendas prior to the meeting date so that you can share ideas even if you can't make the meeting;

2.  send you the minutes of our meetings;

3.  and let you know about special activities and opportunities to help out.

To get in the "email loop," just send us a message at:  FHSPTO@macon.k12.nc.us

To stay even more current, become a Facebook friend of FHS PTO.

 PTO Projects

The funds that we earn through the Bi-Lo and Ingles programs are used to support the students and teachers of Franklin High School in a variety of ways. Our major projects each year include:

1.  The GermBuster Program which supplies each classroom with Hand Sanitizer, Antibacterial wipes and tissues to help combat the spread of colds and flu.

2.  Fall and Spring Open House nights

3.  Student Recognition Programs including a new Honor Roll Recognition Program.

4.  Teacher Appreciation Activities

5.  The Parent Connection -- our PTO Newsletter which is produced in sync with report cards

6.  Speial School Improvement Purchases requested by the teachers and/or school administration

 A Word about Fundraising...

The only "fundraising activities" that the FHS PTO participates in are Bi-Lo and Ingles incentive programs that are linked to customer bonus cards. These rewards programs provide money and goods to the school AT NO COST TO YOU. Once you designate FHS as your charity of choice, the stores simply donate back a percentage of all that you spend there. It does NOT affect your discount, gas points or any other benefit. The money/goods come straight from the companies.

To join the program, simply locate your unique registration number under the barcode on the back of each card. Email it to us (be sure to send all 12 digits)and we will enroll you in the program. It's the most painless fundraising you will ever do!!! And it will keep us in the ...  "no fundraising zone."

 Newsletter

Our PTO newsletter, The FHS Parent Connection, is sent home to parents periodically throughout the school year (usually with each 9 weeks report card). The newsletter is one of our most important projects; it is a valuable tool in keeping parents informed of testing dates, learning opportunities, school events, social activities, and other information pertinent to your student. Please submit article information to this year's PTO Newsletter Coordinator, Alecia Gooder at FHS.PTO.Newsletter@macon.k12.nc.us

 Student Recognition / Staff Recommended

One of the goals of the PTO is to work with the faculty/staff at FHS to recognize and acknowledge student academic achievement. This year the PTO would like to continue this program by recognizing outstanding efforts of students in the areas  listed below. (Please note: sports accomplishments are not included as athletes are recognized in the community's media.) This project will be ongoing throughout the school year.

Some examples for acknowledgement in addition to good grades might be:

- a job well done on a research project or school club competition
- volunteer work
- positive attitude
- work above and beyond what is required or significant improvement
- anything for which you would like to commend a student

Mrs. Janet Pruitt will oversee this program for the PTO; she may be contacted at FHSStudent.Recognition@macon.k12.nc.us

Teachers, to access the student recognition form online, click

http://www.macon.k12.nc.us/schools/FHS/PTO/studentrecognitionform/default.aspx

sign-in, and complete the form there. Please include the name and grade of the student you are nominating and the reason for the recognition.

We look forward to supporting and encouraging our students. Thank you for your help in this project.
