Demographics

Franklin High School is located in Franklin, North Carolina, a rural community in the western North Carolina mountains. Franklin High is the largest of three high schools in Macon County. The 2000 census figures show that 77.3% of the population are high school graduates. The highest percentage of employment in the county is in the retail and service areas.

Current student enrollment for Franklin High School is 1098 students. Our enrollment totals have been increasing steadily the past several years. With this increase has come an increase in ESL students, as well as a more diverse ethnic composition.

Beliefs

That all children can learn, and that all children deserve the opportunity to learn to their individual maximum potential. We believe that each student is an individual with unique needs. Students learn in different ways, and we need to be cognizant of this. We want our students to be lifelong learners. We must have high expectations of all students in order for them to succeed to their fullest potential.

Mission

Every student will be provided with the tools and opportunities to graduate from high school, to be globally competitive for work and post-secondary education, and to be a positive influence in the 21 st century.

FHS Profile

Franklin High School has operated on the 4x4 block schedule since 1995. We offer many extracurricular opportunities through sports, clubs and music. Our curriculum offers a wide variety of elective, as well as Advanced Placement and Honors courses. We typically have 66% of ou students who take the SAT and 78% of our students go on to some type of post-secondary eduational setting.
