 Introduction

Welcome persons to your webpage here.
Whew, 2nd Semester!!!
Well, just as Mrs. Carrion always says at the beginning of the year, " before you know it, it will be Christmas, then Spring Break, then we are done!"
She is right. We get to this point every year, and can't believe how quickly the first semester went. And as she says, it will be over before you know it.
This is a good reason why 3rd, 4th and 5th year students need to sit up and see where they are going.
For 5th years, and graduating 4th years, it is time to fill out the FAFSA form, complete applications, and take the SAT again.
For 3rd year students, and those 4th year students not graduating, it is time to get serious about where they might want to complete their undergraduate degrees.
Important stuff, for sure!
To help the soon-to-be graduates, we offer all kids of help during our Leadership Classes on Fridays. Mrs. Pittman and Mrs. Trotter will offer help with applications, FAFSA form completion, scholarships, etc.
To help the 3rd and 4th not-yet graduates, we have the college visit tour coming up in March. On the 5th, 6th and 7th, we will be taking an school activity bus to visit the following colleges and universities: Wake Forest, UNCG, Guilford College, High Point Univsersity, and Gardner Webb University. This is will be a 2 overnight trip. We will be staying in Greensboro. There will also be two trips to 2 different malls in Greensboro. We will have guided tours at each school.
This trip will only be the first 3 days of Spring Break, so everyone can enjoy the second half of spring break.
Slots are limited to the first 40 who sign up.
Students will only be responsible for their meals and any other incidentals they may want. Transportation and rooms will be provided by the grant that the school operates under.

New subject.
With it being winter, bad weather will undoubtly strike again. This will force delays and cancelations of Macon County Schools and Southwestern Community College.
Dont forget to look for BOTH SCC and MCS cancellations or delays. Remember, most of the time SCC-Macon follows what SCC-Jackson does.
If MCS are out, and SCC is in session, MEC students will be expected to attend their college classes. Transportion, if MCS are out, will NOT be provided on that day.
Conversely, if SCC is out, and MCS are in, then students with high school classes will be expected to be here for their high school classes.
Bottom line? Watch, and listen for the cancellation/delay notices for both SCC and Macon County Schools.
