Welcome!
I am very happy to be part of the Iotla Valley Elementary family, and feel priviledged to serve as Lead Teacher. I began my career in administration five years ago at East Frankin Elementary. I gained valuable experience at East Franklin in administration and am looking forward to the new horizons at Iotla Valley. I look forward to getting to know the students and families this year.
I moved to Macon County 12 years ago from Denton, Texas. I graduated from the University of North Texas in 1988 after receiving my Bachelor and Master's degree in Elementary Education. I received my Administration Certification from Western Carolina University. I have taught second grade, fourth grade, fifth grade Reading, fifth grade Writing, and fifth grade Science over a span of eighteen years. This will be my fifth year in administration.
My main goal this year is to build positive relationships with parents, students, and staff. I participated in the Lindamood Bell Summer School this past summer, and am excited to be working with several small groups of students this year.
I believe in strong communication between home and school so please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I know that this will be a great year!
