The lease has been signed and now the Macon STEM program is getting ready to start preparing the space for the upcoming FIRST Robotics Challenge season.
The Macon County Commissioners, Macon EDC and Macon County Board of Education has made it possible for the Macon STEM program to enter into a lease agreement for 1000 sq. feet of space at the Business Industrial Incubator. This space will be designed predominantly for the Makin’ Bots FRC Robotics Team as a workshop but the space will be utilized for other STEM initiatives.
Starting this winter 2018, the Macon Drone Club will begin working in the space to learn about building and flying drones. This program will be open to high school students. The space will also be available to teachers interested in doing projects that might require a workshop environment.
The Golden Leaf Foundation STEM grant will help supply the space with needed tools and technology. Macon STEM is especially excited to be partnering with Lowe’s Helping Hands to build our workbenches and equip the space with tools and other resources. With Lowe’s employee help and resources, we hope to be meeting in the space starting in mid-October.
