The Macon Virtual Academy will offer a virtual option to students in grades K – 8. Full time students must meet specific requirements. The courses are made available through a partnership with Edmentum’s EdOptions Academy and will include a full Elementary program including all four core courses as well as electives. The Secondary students (6-8 grades) will be offered all core courses, electives, and health/physical education; everything a student needs to work towards a district approved diploma.
The Macon Virtual Academy is a stand-alone school. Students will be eligible to be part of after-school activities including athletics and clubs at the “home-zoned” school.
At this time, any 9-12th grade student interested in a virtual option will need to contact their “home-zoned” school. Administration at their school will inform them of the options available to them for the 2021-2022 school year and the requirements for enrollment.
Students in the Macon Virtual Academy will be issued a device (iPad) to use at home. Parent/guardian involvement, compatible internet service, and student motivation are required in order to succeed at the Macon Virtual Academy.
Each course will have a certified teacher provided by EdOptions Academy. This teacher is the teacher of record and will be working with the student to teach and guide them through the course.
The Principal will be working with each student as their Success Coach. The Success Coach ensures that each student has everything needed to be successful in courses. The Success Coach will provide important information about the school such as testing dates and locations.
