The Macon County Board of Education will hold their Regular Scheduled Meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025 beginning at 6:00 pm at Mountain View Intermediate School, located at 161 Clarks Chapel Road, Franklin, NC.

The Macon County Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 beginning at 9:00 am in the Board Room of the Macon County Schools Administrative Offices.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the 2025-2026 budget and prioritize capital outlay items. Other items may be discussed and action taken as needed.

Congratulations to Exceptional Children's Teacher of the Year- Meg Mileti, Exceptional Children's Support Person of the Year-Amy Kinsland and School Nutrition Employee of the Year-Beth Gray. School Nutrition Manager of the Year-Lynn Vinson was also recognized but was unable to attend the meeting.
Policy Update:
At last night’s Board of Education meeting, the Macon County Board of Education approved by a 3-2 vote a new “bell-to-bell” cell phone use policy for the district. Board Member Diedre Breeden made the motion, seconded by Board Member Stephanie Laseter. Board Members Jim Breedlove and Hilary Wilkes opposed the motion. This means student cell phone use will be restricted from the first bell to the last bell during the school day. The complete Board Policy 4318- Use of Wireless Communication Devices is shown for your review.

Thursday was a great day for the Special Friends Goat Show at the Macon County Fair! We are so proud of everyone who participated. Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to Judge Evan Clapsaddle (Macon County Schools Exeptional Children's Director) and his assistant Allison Guynn (Macon County Schools CTE Director).
