The Macon County Board of Education will hold a joint meeting with the Macon County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., in the Franklin High School Fine Arts Center, located at 100 Panther Drive, Franklin, NC.
During this joint session, various topics of discussion will include 2024-2025 school system budget planning, school facilities, and other school information as needed.
Due to a water line break near Franklin High School, Franklin area schools will be dismissing at 1:30 today, Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Mr. Faetz was one of 127 who applied for a scholarship to attend the upcoming Holocaust Educator Seminar in Poland this summer. Mr. Faetz's dedication and passion for Holocaust education stood out, making him a deserving recipient of this scholarship. A very special thank you to the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) for this opportunity for Mr. Faetz. Mr. Faetz teaches secondary English at Franklin High School. We are beyond excited for him and his journey!

It was an inspiring day hosting Representative Gillespie for the 2nd Annual North Carolina Bring Your Legislator to School Day! Representative Gillespie visited classrooms, ate with students in the cafeteria, and had insightful discussions with teachers and Superintendent Lynch about ways to improve outcomes for all our students. Thank you for taking time to visit and engage with our community, Representative Gillespie!

The Macon County School System was thrilled to host Senator Corbin and Mrs. Corbin yesterday for the 2nd Annual NC Bring Your Legislator to School Day! We showcased our innovative programs and discussed specific needs of our district. We are grateful for the senator's interest and support of all our students, staff, and community!

Isabelle Denman of Blue Ridge Honor Flight recently reached out to Mr. Larry Pickens to ask for his assistance with a project. Blue Ridge Honor Flight’s mission is to transport America’s Veterans to Washington, DC to visit the memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of themselves and their friends. On their flight back home the veterans are given letters to read from American citizens. Mr. Pickens reached out to one of his colleagues at Franklin High School, English teacher Mr. Tyler Faetz. Mr. Faetz encouraged his students to write their own handwritten letter to a veteran for this project. Blue Ridge Honor Flight was thrilled to receive the heartfelt letters from the high school students. We hope the veterans will enjoy them as well.
